We've done it again! Midway has another first - us!

Following a meeting with Rear Admiral "Mac" McLaughlin USN (Ret.), President and CEO of the USS Midway Museum, and Scott McGaugh, Marketing Director for the Museum, on February 19, 2010, our association has been recognized by the Museum as having the credentials and operating history to be able to represent the interests of every Midway sailor, regardless of Department or Airwing affiliation, in the newly reformed USS Midway Veterans Association. We started almost 15 years ago as the OI Division Reunion Association and now have members from many other divisions and the air wings. It was time to change!

Below is the heartfelt message we received back from the Admiral

Dear Mr. Granger,

On behalf of the staff and employees of the USS Midway Museum, I applaud your emerging efforts to create an organization where former USS Midway crew of all ranks and eras can gather, share their stories, and help support their legacy through the USS Midway Museum. As you well know, the essence of this historic carrier's legacy lies in the footsteps of the men who walked her decks and who repeatedly answered the call of their nation.

We wish you success in making the most of this opportunity to create an extended USS Midway community that will stand the test of passing time, and we look forward to working with your organization as it grows in the years to come.
