The USS Midway Veterans Association is a 501(c)(19) nonprofit organization; our membership fees and contributions are tax-deductible as provided by law. We donate 20 percent of our membership fees to the USS Midway Museum’s charitable programs, and we make charitable donations to other military causes as well.

We lived the dream . . . USS Midway Veterans Association

Simply put, we are part of a very good thing: a shipwide organization of United States Navy and Marine Corps Veterans who served aboard the USS Midway (CV-41) at some point during her operational history, from her commissioning in 1945 to her decommissioning in 1992.  As Midway Veterans we have been acknowledged by the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum in San Diego as an organization where former officers and crew can gather, share their stories, and help support their legacy through the Midway Museum. 

What a ship she was—and still is!  And as former crewmembers of Midway, we serve her now as we served her then—proudly, sharing a common bond in our love for her. Midway proved to be one of the most heroic, mightiest, and longest-enduring naval warships of the twentieth century, and today that spirit, embodied by the concept of “Midway Magic”, lives on, and now, as a museum ship in the twenty-first century, she draws over a million visitors each year. Fantastic! 

As a result of the donations MVA members have made to the Museum’s charitable programs such as the education scholarship fund and the Midway preservation endowment—and most recently to the new Battle of Midway Experience Theater—our name is proudly engraved on the plaques commemorating these fund raisers/venues aboard the ship. We plan to foster this spirit of charitable giving for years to come, just as we plan to continue to work hard to find and reconnect Midway Veterans—ship’s company and air groups alike—to their ship and our organization.
