MVA Conference call minutes 1/28/24

The conference call was called to order at 3 pm by Tim Munderloh
The following personnel were on the conference call:
Steve Decata, Marty Fitzgerlad, Tim Miller, Ray Tillery.

Tim Munderloh turned the conference call over to Steve. Steve in turn talked about the progress of how the events of the reunion are shaping up to be. The flight dinner is almost all set with the catering company chosen, also there is a baseball game outing planned between the Pardes & Dodgers during our reunion time. With people getting their own transportation to the game. He also stated that he sent another letter to our guest speaker to see if he would be willing and free at that time to be our guest speaker. Also stated that the 23rd of Sept is a travel/early check-in and day to set up the hospitality room. Then Steve turned the call over to Tim Miller who presented that we should use a kegerator or jockey box system from the same company that the MVA used for the very first MVA at the Crown Plaza hotel in Mission Valley in 2010. It was agreed by the board that getting kegs of beer would save us money in the long run, also with the jockey box system we can have 2 different beers running at the same time. Steve will run the option of the jockey box system with the other two associations. Then Tim Miller brought up that our two coffee brewers are getting old and should be replaced and how during the 1st Midway class reunion they didn’t keep up with the demand especially during the morning period. So Tim also stated that online we can get a 100 cup coffee brewer for $ 89.99 with free shipping. The board agreed to buy one new coffee brewer & use the two others until the current planned reunion in Sept is over, then maybe get another new after that. Then Tim Miller turned the call over to Ray who received one or two payments from AFR, and was still waiting for a payment for the USS Coral Sea association. Also, since he put out the email about donations, the MVA has received about $ 1,505. Then after Ray presented his items the board talked about reunions on the East coast and the low turnout. The board agrees and feels that we need to bring it up during the business meeting during the reunion and need to make some changes to the current by laws and how often to have reunions. Tim Munderloh asked if there were any other things that the board wanted to bring up. Nothing else was brought up, so Tim Munderloh adjourned the conference call at 3:55 pm.

Respectfully submitted by Tim Miller MVA Secretary

MVA Conference call minutes 8/6/23

The conference call was called to order at 3 pm by Tim Munderloh

The following personnel were on the conference call:

Steve Decata, Marty Fitzgerlad, Tim Miller, Ray Tillery.

Tim then turned the conference call over to Steve. Steve in turn shared that we have a total of 28 people signed up for the Norfolk reunion. He also stated that for some reason the hotel in Norfolk is making us get a liquor license for us to be able to have beer and wine in the hospitably room at the hotel. Then shared next year’s reunion dates have been set for Sept 27th – Sept 31.  He also shared that he had a very fruitful meeting with the new CEO of the Midway Museum & recently a new member of the MVA Terry Kraft. Through that meeting our own Ray Tiller has already been contacted by Terry Kraft and the icing on the cake is. That Ray has already had an interview with the foundation board of the Midway Museum and is waiting for the result of the interview.  Which would maybe give us a voice on the Midway. That’s Midway magic at its best. Also, he shared that Terry is in the process of inviting someone that he knows to hopefully be our guest speaker at next year’s Midway class reunion. Steve is also started to think about what events and things to do for next year’s reunion. Also, the grand banquet is also already planned for the flight deck for that reunion. Then Tim Miller bought up that maybe

We should have kegs vs cases of beer for the Midway class reunion, of course it’s a way down the road for that. Also, Tim Miller bought up that maybe one of the events for the Midway class reunion is a baseball game, that is if the San Diego team is in town during the dates when we will have our reunion. After Tim shared then Tim called an end to the conference call at 3:30 pm.
